West Spring Secondary School had its first intake of students in January 2001 at Zhenghua Secondary School, the holding site. A piece of land at the end of Petir Road was reserved for the building of West Spring Secondary School. The school was scheduled for completion in December 2002.
A Change of Plans
However, there was a change of plans. The land reserved for West Spring was withdrawn and a piece of land along Senja Roadwas allocated to build West Spring Secondary School. Due to this change, West Spring Secondary was ready only at the end of 2004. Thus, the pioneer Secondary One cohort could not get to enjoy their new school’s facilities.
Move to Teck Whye
As a result of the change, West Spring Secondary School moved to occupy the old Teck Whye Secondary School at the end of December 2001. West Spring Secondary School quickly established itself as a school which implements highly innovative academic and co-curricular programmes to enrich the learning experiences of its students.
Move to Senja
Today, West Spring continues to enjoy the reputation of a dynamic and happy school. Springing forth into the new age, life in the school has never been a dull moment for anyone who has experienced the West Spring culture.
Students enjoy a colourful and vibrant learning environment under the tutelage of dedicated teachers who are experts in their key subject areas.
West Spring adopts a concept of a happy school where students gather knowledge in a highly conducive environment – thinking and growing, enriched by the experiences the school has to offer. Students are groomed to be confident, caring and responsible citizens who will be courageous to face a dynamic new world.
At West Spring, we know that change is the inevitable in this borderless globalised world which we live in today. Only a strong foundation in knowledge and a burning passion for lifelong learning will allow us to thrive in the uncertain future ahead. Special programmes have been tailored to ensure that students are ready to embrace the future with confidence when they leave our doors.
After a long wait of four years, West Spring Secondary School finally shifted to its permanent residence in Bukit Panjang in January 2005. The school was officially declared opened by Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Community Development, Youth and Sports, on 9 September 2005.
Now located at 61 Senja Road, the school promises very exciting times ahead for those who seek to face new challenges with us and they quench the thirst for knowledge.
